The best Death statue yet.
I'm a big fan of the Death character, so she was an obvious choice when I first started collecting statues. But as many times as Bowen and DC Direct have tackled the character, they've never delivered the definitive Death statue. And I've owned most of them at one point or another. They're either too small (DC Chronicles Death) or the sculpt has some issues (the Bowen Death & 2001 DC Direct statues).

But once I saw this piece on display at NYCC last year, I knew I would be adding it to my collection. It has a really sleek, elegant sculpt that perfectly captures the look and charm of the character. The statue has a classy look to it that the Cover Girls line pretty much lost when DC switched from the Adam Hughes series to the New 52 designs. Her stance is not exciting, but the inclusion of the eagle, perched on her umbrella, adds an animated quality, suggesting this is a frame of a fluid movement. The eagle, itself, is looking back at her as she stares into the unknown. The bird's fanned wingspan is perfect--giving this statue some "life."

Death is, as advertised, cold-cast porcelain as is the pile of skulls she stands on. I would gage this as 1/7 scale--Death is 9 inches tall, whilst the entire statue is 11 inches. Her umbrella and the eagle are...
