Not as well made as some, but still looks great.
While there are a fair number of accessories included and this figure looks generally great, it's not as well made as I would expect from Hot Toys.
First, let's start with the packaging. The packaging that Hot Toys chose for this figure is a bit questionable and cheap. Instead of the familiar and more sophisticated shoebox style lift off container that allows for easy removal and review, this figure is packaged in a box with flaps that tuck and lock into place on top and bottom. Then it is sealed with clear tape dots. The flap locking enclosure is locked with a flap that folds over and into the box that locks against two inner flaps that are folded just below. This is a standard box locking type of package you find in any retail 12 inch action figure (such as most G.I. Joe or mid level Barbie). One side of the box is open with a plastic window, again like a G.I. Joe retail packaged figure. Then, the package is covered by an outer box thin paper printed sleeve. So, to...
4 stars- he's just not as posable
After receiving Movie Masterpiece 1/6 Scale Hawkeye and Movie Masterpiece 1/6 Scale Nick Fury, I didn't hesitate to order the rest of the Hot Toys' Avengers series through Sideshow. Those two figures are exceptional in quality, sculpting and detailed costuming. Captain America is the third figure I received, and though I am satisfied with him, he's my least favorite of the line-up so far.
I do not mean to imply this figure is poorly done. The costume is brilliantly rendered, and his shields are amazing. He comes with two: one battle damaged and one shiny new-looking. He also comes with a Chitauri blaster, multiple hands/fists and two different head sculpts. One head has the face mask cowl - which doesn't look much like Evans but that's not unexpected since more than half the face is covered - and the other is a render of actor...
Great figure, one of my favorites from Hot Toys
I have quite a few Hot Toys and Sideshow 1/6 Scale figures (including both Thor figures, the original Captain America and the Avengers Black Widow). This Cap blows the original (First Avenger) figure out of the water. I actually preferred the WWII Cap costume on the screen, but the Avengers figure just looks amazing in person.
The articulation on all of these figures is fairly limited, but you can get some pretty nice poses for display. The colors on Cap's costume are vibrant and the design is really quite close to the movie. The likeness to Chris Evans is very good - I personally prefer the non-masked head for display.
Can't decide whether i prefer this over the Avengers Thor figure - they are both amazing and put the originals to shame.
