Brings back fond childhood memories
Watching Robotech as a child, I always dreamed of being Rick Hunter and flying among the stars, but knew it was out of reach. When Scott Bernard can on the Robotech scene with the Cyclone bike, I knew this was a dream I could achieve. I've been a avid biker ever since. Having this beautifully detailed recreation of that classic bike just brings all those childhood feeling back and makes me psyched up for my next ride on my custom bike. It's not a cyclone but I have not given up on making a true full size working cyclone bike in my lifetime.
A Masterpiece!
I've owned the #1 Scott Bernard Masterpiece Cyclone figure for about 2 years now, and let me just say that it is exactly what you would expect... awesome. I have not exactly opened my toy up and transformed it, but I do look at it from time to time. Opening it would be pretty dumb being that the thing rises in price like every 6 months. I've seen these things go for $600 on ebay and it's a pretty cool thing to be able to say that you own one of these figures (of course you have to be a fan of the show to think it's cool otherwise you are just a nerd/dork). I purchased mine for the $200 price tag and I have no regrets. I had wanted on of these things ever since I was like 5 so I guess I am precisely in the target market. I waited for this thing for FOREVER!
It is cool, and I'm glad I got it, but the quality of the Masterpiece Collection series is nowhere to be found on this thing. I thought they'd skimped on the Alphas, but these Cyclones are terribly constructed.
Things fall off of them constantly, and no matter which form you have them in, their shape remains solid only as long as unicorns keep dreaming. Which means they don't hold together well for those of you that don't get sarcasm.
Also, the company I ordered this through I believe sold me a "repackaged" version of this toy. I can't be certain because the box itself is "forever mint in a box," but from having purchased EVERYTHING that came from the Masterpiece Collection, I'm pretty sure this had been opened previously. Not that this fact affects the aforementioned poor construction of the figure. That's just the state of the product.
