As a kid, one of the many reasons I loved watching Robotech, was trying to figure out how the mecha would work in a real world. Well, this item is a complete success. IN every area. amazing design. There are actually two versions of this item: Volume 1 for Scott Bernard and volume 2 for Rand. I have both. Second volume is better asambled and more durable.
Quick note: Some specialized reviewers on the net has pointed several times you have to take the figure head off before you place it in the ride when in armor mode. Well, I can tell you that this is not necesarily true. NO need to take its head off.

Robotech was among my favorite shows here in the US. Actually my favorite cartoon aired in the US. I watched almost every episode back in tthe 80s. However I liked the third part of robotech. The Robotech Masterpiece collection is nothing new to me. I have been collecting the line since Toynami released the Alpha and Veritech Masterpiece Editions. Now days not too many retailers sell this line. At best it can only be acquired at conventions. I was at the Kawaii Kon last april and i wanted to get an MPC cyclone but i didnt get around to doing so. So now I ordered one. I had been centering my attention on the Robotech MPC line due to its rarity.
Its really the book style case if this line that catches people's eye. And it looks good lined up on the shelf. This particular cyclone like the previous one, is made by Beagle in Japan. Toynami took the liscensing to produce and sell it. The Robotech MPC is not childs play its not for children to play with its a collectible catered...
Most impressive transformable toy I've ever seen
I don't have a huge collection, but I do have more than a few transformable toys, ranging from vintage 80's toys to modern adult collector oriented toys. The Masterpiece Cyclone is by far the most impressive transformable toy I've ever handled. The sculpt and appearance is very faithful to the original animation, and the articulation is stellar. But what impresses me most is that they made a perfect transformation toy (one that does not require you to remove or replace parts -- think Optimus Prime's fists from the G1 Transformers) from this design. I'll be truthful -- the transformation IS complicated. However, it's not *needlessly* complicated, or complicated in a poorly designed way. The complex transformation is required in order to realize perfect transformation -- quite a feat on a design with a transformation sequence that is not at all intuitive. I'd liken it more to an elegantly designed puzzle, where every movement is precisely required in order to find the solution.
